Canada School of Barbering uses resources such as The Barber Fundamentals by Pivot Point to teach the Masters in Barbering. 

Tier One is to be completed using the Pivot Point LAB online platform and scheduled live Video conferencing using Zoom. Designed to help enhance your skills in Barbering, the online LAB educational content combines the best-online programs that facilitate an interactive, engaging and responsive learning environment. This method of distance learning offers flexible learning at your own time in your own space.

The Masters in Barbering duration for Tier One is ten days, completed Monday through Friday for two weeks. Scheduled meetings for live demonstrations and discussions by our educators and practical workshops that allows students to practice their skills with mannequins under the guidance and watchful eye of our Instructors via Video Conferencing.

Once your seat is secured, a tool bag will be delivered to you including all the tools you need. A tripod mannequin holder and grooming products are also included to complete workshops at home. 

In Tier One student performances are evaluated in both practical and theory work by means of online quizzes, exams, and daily practical workshops. Once successfully completed Tier One all students will be able to move forward and complete the remaining tiers.

Barber Fundamentals - 2 weeks

Online workshops using theoretical concepts and practical techniques on mannequins using the Pivot Point online platform LAB and scheduled video conferencing using Zoom.

Barber Internship - 4 weeks

On campus fundamentals review with a focus on Hands on practical training, learning on live models provided by Canada School of Barbering in campus barbershop.

ADVANCED Fundamentals - 3 weeks

After completing Tier One and Tier Two, you will be heading back to the class room for more theory and mannequin work including advanced cutting focusing on different hair types such as curly textured hair and straight course hair:

Online off campus training is available for students who are unable to attend in class theory training.

ADVANCED Internship - 6 weeks 

The Final Tier of this program is divided between in campus theory review and hands on practical training. During the last tier you will be advancing the skills you have learned in the previous tiers to become confident and ready for your government practical and theoretical exams.

  • Who can take this course?

    Anyone able to prove, with references: 2175 hours & 18 months worked in the Barber or Hairstylist trade.

  • Where is this course held?

    This Online Barber Prep Course is done only online, you will be able to log in from anywhere. In the comfort of your own home or while at work all you need is internet access through a computer, mobile phone or tablet.

  • When can I take the course?

    This course is available anytime. You can register and start the next day. 


    We recommend students give themselves at least 3 months to go through the resources before writing their exams. 


    Test results are completely dependant on the student, Canada School of Barbering is only providing the resources to prepare for exmainations. 

  • What is the Alberta Qualification Program?

    The Qualification program is for persons who already have past experience in their trade and want to challenge the entire certificate. While submitting their application, applicants include all of their previous work experience in the trade; once this is verified, they are then booked for their written and practical examinations. There is no training requirement for the Qualification program, and interpreters are permitted during examinations. From the application submittal date, applicants have 18 months to complete all the program requirements, which awards a Qualification Certificate.

  • Can I work outside of Alberta?

    Some Provinces will allow you to work as an Alberta Licensed Journeyman Barber. You will need to check with the local jurisdictions to see what is accepted. 

  • What is the difference between the Alberta Licensed Journeyman Barber  and a Journeyman Hairstylist?

    The difference between the two trades is the scope of work that each are able to perform. Barbers are able to perform: shampooing, cutting, shaving, and trimming; and these tasks can be performed on males or females. Hairstylists are able to perform all of the tasks of a Barber, as well as additional tasks such as: perms, colouring, extensions, and wigs and hairpieces.
